A warm wind pushes through the palms as riders file their Surron bikes along a narrow ridge trail, the island falling away to blue sea on one side and steep, green gullies on the other. The machines whisper at idle; once underway the electric torque pulls you up raw dirt tracks carved between durian and coconut groves, past temples glimpsed through trees and small farms where locals tend fruit trees.
