You push off from downtown Port Angeles with the harbor shrinking behind you and the Olympic Discovery Trail opening like an invitation. The e-bike hums, the wind in your face feels deliberate, and trees on either side seem to lean in to watch you pass. The trail alternates between coastal views, salt-scented marshes, and stands of second-growth fir; gulls wheel and the Strait of Juan de Fuca dares you to look farther.

Expect moderate exertion: able to pedal short climbs and stand for 30–60 minutes at a time; e-bike assistance reduces continuous strain.
Rides are unstructured: staff fit the bike, provide directions and route suggestions, then you ride independently along the Olympic Discovery Trail.
Riders must be 12 or older; youth sizing is available but check with the operator for specific fit and motor power.
Expect to comfortably cover 10–25 miles in 3–4 hours depending on assist level, terrain, and rider effort.

The trail repurposes former rail and logging routes that once moved timber and supplies; conversion to a recreation corridor began as local rails fell into disuse in the late 20th century.
