Embark on an unforgettable journey through Oaxaca, visiting iconic sites like the Tule Tree and the archaeological wonders of Mitla. We start with the visit of the Tule Tree (panoramic view), then we continue towards the town of Teotitlán del Valle, where we will find workshops of Zapotec artisans famous by its work inside and outside the country, for their unique wool fabrics made on looms of hand and treatments with natural dyes of pre-Hispanic origin such as indigo and cochineal. We can visit from a small community workshop such as: Manos Zapotecas, the Community Market or the Gutiérrez Community Gallery with works by Master Felipe Gutiérrez.
We will continue towards Mitla: “City of the Dead”, Archaeological Site known for its fine architecture and ornamentation described by Dominican friars of the 16th century. The buildings of the Church Group, the Column Group, their tombs and temples are visited. Optionally, you can visit an artisanal Mezcal Palenque such as the renowned one: Don Agave, located on the Route to Mitla at the intersection of the detour that leads to Teotitlán del Valle, to learn about the production of the famous mezcal of Oaxaca. We will have the opportunity to taste the different mezcals, such as reposado, añejo, pechuga, or the exquisite mezcal creams. (Optional food on the way not included in the price of the Tour).
We will end with a visit to Hierve el Agua famous for its petrified waterfalls.Hierve el Agua is a one-of-its-kind natural wonder with its calcified, natural stone rock formations and a petrified waterfall effect that makes it unique when comparing it to any other waterfall in the world. At the end of the visit we will Back to the hotel.
