About

We will start the day hiking arround the vineyards of el Penedès, a truly beautiful Catalan countryside landscape dotted with farmhouses and wineries, or cellars, where wine-growing is carried out at over 300 wineries. Our hike will bring us to a traditional wine cellar where we will have a guided visit and will also taste three wines from their range of white, red and sparkling wines.

Full Tour Description

After 45 minutes drive on a AC Minivan, we will reach El Penedès wine country. El Penedès is one of the oldest wine-making regions in Europe, world-famous for producing wines of exceptional quality, and specially for being the place where cava (sparkling-wine) is produced. We will get ready and start hiking between the vineyards of this beautiful mediterranean countryside. Our path will go arround a landscape dotted with farmhouses and wineries set among vines. As we ride we will learn about the grape varieties of the area, traditions and history of the region. While hiking, we will take a break to savor some typical Catalan snacks (please bring your own sandwich for lunch) while we have beautiful views of the iconic mountain of Montserrat. The hiking route will get us to a small familly-owned organic winery where we will enjoy a guided visit to the cellar and will learn about their history and the wine & Cava elaboration process. After the visit we will do a wine tasting of three wines from their range of white, red and sparkling wines combined with some local snacks.
