A silver dawn breaks over the Andean rim as the 4x4 climbs from Pereira’s valley floor toward the thin air of Los Nevados National Natural Park. By the time the refuge El Cisne appears at about 4,100 meters, the world has narrowed to wind-swept grasses, stone cairns, and a sky so close it feels reachable. The shelter offers basic rooms, hot showers and a stove-warmed dining room — a rare human comfort in the páramo.
