You step onto Castle Terrace at 09:00 and the city peels away behind you: the Forth Bridges shrinking, the River Tay widening, and the northeast coast opening like a page of weathered stone and sea. Salt air and gull calls punctuate the drive as the V&A Dundee rises by the Tay and the road threads through Montrose, St Cyrus and the raw drama of Dunnottar Castle perched on its basalt headland.
