The truck grumbles up a narrow mountain track and the rainforest closes in — leaves glisten with mist and a chorus of birds threads through the trees. After a short 4x4 crossing of roughly 10 km through steep ridges you step onto a shaded trail that winds over two simple bridges, threads five streams and delivers you to a pair of emerald pools carved into volcanic bedrock.

Able to walk 1–2 km on uneven, sometimes slippery paths and handle short stair-like terrain; swimming ability recommended for pool use.
The walking portion is short — roughly 1–1.6 km (0.6–1 mile) round-trip on uneven rainforest paths with a few stream crossings.
The lower pool is shallower (up to ~2 m) and suitable for supervised children; the deeper upper pool is about 4 m deep and has an optional jump—follow guide advice.
