Morning light slants across Lake Memphremagog as the van threads quiet country roads toward villages that wear their history on stone and clapboard. The air carries the tang of wood smoke and fresh-baked bread; fields open like pages describing a landscape shaped by glaciers and farming families. Stops include Knowlton and the cafés that Louise Penny made famous, the market town of Magog for a lakeside lunch, and the curious Haskell Free Library that straddles the Canada–US border.
