About

  • Our signature train ride is the East Logan Train! This diesel-powered train ride departs Nelsonville at 1:00 every Saturday and Sunday Memorial Day Weekend through the end of September.

  • The ride is a 22-mile round trip and lasts about two hours and 15 minutes. As you ride in our vintage passenger cars, we will travel back in time as we traverse the 156-year-old route.

  • We will pass historical sites such as the remains of Hocking Canal Lock No. 19 and will follow the Hocking River. You’ll also get a glimpse of the current industry in the valley including gravel mining operations and a lumber facility. In addition, most of these weekend trips will include a stop at Hocking College’s Robbins Crossing Historical Village at Hocking College (subject to availability as the village is not a part of the HVSR).

Please note before coming…

  1. If someone in your party needs wheelchair access, please purchase a wheelchair ticket. Due to the antique nature of our equipment, we have very limited wheelchair capacity. Also, please plan to arrive 45 minutes prior to departure in order to give us ample time to get your party comfortably on board.

  2. Upon arrival, please come inside the depot and pick up hard copies of your tickets. Your confirmation is not a ticket and you must have paper tickets to board the train. No shows will be charged the full price.

  3. The trains are scheduled to leave promptly at 1 p.m. Passengers should arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the departure. Wheelchairs should arrive closer to 45 minutes to an hour before departure.

  4. We reserve the right to adjust our schedules as well as change motive power without advance warning.

  5. Soft drinks and food are permitted on board.

Thank you so much, and we look forward to seeing you on board soon! Family fun is a train ride away! Make tracks to history!
