Embark on a captivating 4-hour cycling adventure through the charming villages of eastern Algarve, alongside the scenic Guadiana River. Experience the rich history at Castro Marim Castle, savor local flora, and enjoy a refreshing break in Vila Real. This unique journey combines culture, nature, and stunning landscapes for an unforgettable outing.
Duration: 4 Hours
Our route takes us through typical "aldeias", small villages in the eastern Algarve, to the river Guadiana, which forms the natural border with Spain. The local vegetation with cistus bushes, cork oaks and pine trees as well as the cultivation of various types of fruit are our constant companions. The castle of Castro Marim bears witness to the times when the Moors ruled this region. Here we have a great view of the salt pans, where sea salt is still traditionally harvested, as well as the lazily flowing Guadiana and the Spanish town of Ayamonte. After a short refreshment break in the beautiful border town of Vila Real, we cycle back to the club through pine forests on the "Ecovia" coastal cycle path.
