The sun is a hard coin over the horizon as the Land Cruiser pulls off the highway and into an ocean of red sand. Wind-swept ridges rise and fall like a restless sea; the dunes dare you to chase the crest. This is Lahbab — Dubai’s raw, open desert where the morning light sharpens texture, and the air carries an echo of Bedouin routes.
moderate.
4 hours.
Suitable for people with a basic level of fitness; requires ability to mount/dismount ATVs and stand on shifting sand.
No — guides provide a safety briefing and supervise; basic coordination and following instructions is enough for most riders.
Yes, but policies vary; infants usually must sit on an adult’s lap for transport and drivers may restrict dune-bashing participation for small children.
Drone use is restricted in many UAE areas and requires permits; check with the operator before bringing one.
Tours may proceed in light winds but severe sandstorms or unsafe conditions can lead to cancellation or rescheduling—confirm the operator’s policy.
Lahbab has long been traversed by Bedouin and camel caravans; modern safaris echo those routes while introducing mechanized recreation.
The dunes are ecologically sensitive—vehicles must stay on designated tracks and visitors should avoid disturbing vegetation and wildlife.
