The lights of Dubai slide past like a second skyline—the yacht eases away from the quay, the marina’s towers gleaming, and the water takes on the city’s neon pulse. Onboard an 80-foot luxury vessel, a DJ tunes the mood while the smoke of a live BBQ threads through conversation; the sea itself seems to offer an approving hush.

History

Dubai Marina and the Palm were developed in the late 20th and early 21st century as part of Dubai’s rapid coastal urban expansion, creating some of the world’s largest man-made waterfront structures.

Conservation

Choose operators that follow waste-management practices and avoid throwing any trash overboard; marine habitats in the Persian Gulf are sensitive to pollution and boat traffic.
