The sun tilts low and the dunes blush a deeper red as a convoy of 4x4s eases into the wide, sandy bowl outside Dubai. Wind lifts thin veils of grit that catch the last light; the vehicle hums, tires find purchase, and a professional driver launches into a measured run along steep faces — dune bashing that briefly makes the desert feel like a living roller coaster.

6 hours.
Suitable for most fitness levels — must be able to sit in a 4x4 and walk short stretches on loose sand
Dune-bashing typically lasts about 15–20 minutes and is driven by professionals using experienced techniques for safety.
Short camel rides are often offered; some operators include them while others charge a small extra fee or offer them on request.
Most evening safaris include hotel pickup and drop-off across Dubai — confirm your pickup point when booking.
The activity is generally family-friendly, but dune-bashing is not recommended for pregnant guests or those with back issues; check with the operator for age limits.
The route reflects Bedouin travel corridors where camels were primary transport; modern camps recreate hospitality traditions like ghawa (coffee) and storytelling.
Dunes are fragile — stay on designated tracks, avoid littering, and choose operators that prioritize dune preservation and responsible waste practices.
