Sunrise Pack Station Horsemanship is about teaching kids and adults how to be safe and comfortable around horses on the ground and in the saddle. We want people to know how to handle horses safely. We also want them to know when a horses is too much for them and how to get away from it safely. Everyone has the story or riding a friends back yard horse who bucked them off, kicked them or bit them. We want to teach people how to recognize that problem before they get hurt and how to prevent it or avoid it before it happens. Our horses are safe and gentle, but they are not perfect, nor do we want them to be. The will resist when being asked to do something sometimes and students will have to make them obey. This is what we want, because most horses are like this at one time or another. We are teaching more than just riding we are teaching horsemanship. Elementary Driving, will go through the basics of driving horses in harness. Students will learn the harness and its parts, proper fit, basic of driving single on the ground, basic of driving in a cart and the basics of a team.
Closed-toe boots with a heel are recommended for safety and stability during the class.
