Drive-in Night: Supergirl at Box Canyon Trail, Amenia NY

On a warm summer evening at Box Canyon Trail in Amenia, New York, the fourbrothersdrivein flickers to life with a single towering screen and the low rumble of idling engines. The event here is a community ritual: vintage cars in neat rows, families on blankets, concession lines under string lights, and a crisp projection of Supergirl—the fast-paced, interstellar thriller—unspooling across the open air. This summer. Located in the rolling foothills of the Taconic Range, the drive-in pairs movie-night comfort with a wide sky that turns electric as the sun sets. The experience begins long before the lights go down. Gates open early to allow time for parking, wandering the lot and finding the spot that suits your group. Pull up to the box office to check in and confirm your reservation. Bring layers and bug spray; nights in Dutchess County can cool quickly. Sound is usually delivered via FM radio or on-site speakers, so arrive with a charged battery and a working radio. Concessions and picnic-style dining are part of the draw: expect popcorn, sodas, and the easy pace of small-town summer nights. What makes this screening special in Amenia is the setting: a large outdoor screen framed by open fields and distant tree lines rather than city glow. The surrounding geology includes sedimentary slopes of the Taconic foothills and patchwork pastureland, which leaves an unimpeded view of the night sky—excellent for quick stargazing between credits. The drive-in continues a long American tradition that began in the 1930s, offering a nostalgic way to watch a contemporary action film. This outing is family-friendly but lively; action scenes and thematic elements may be intense for very young viewers. Check the box office at arrival for any age notices. The check-in process is straightforward: provide your reservation name at the box office and follow attendant directions. If weather moves in, policies can vary, so consult the booking page or contact the venue directly. The appeal here blends cinematic spectacle with low-key outdoor recreation: short walks around the lot, tailgate socializing, and a star-filled canopy overhead. For travelers staying in Amenia or nearby Dutchess County towns, it’s an easy night out that feels local and cinematic. Whether you come for nostalgia, the communal ritual, or the thrill of Supergirl’s interstellar chase, the drive-in delivers a vivid, approachable outdoor movie experience beneath the open sky. Arrive early to claim your view, respect quiet during credits, and pack out trash and recyclables. Keep noise low after the film. This simple ritual — an evening of communal watching, idling cars, and stories under the stars — makes Amenia a memorable stop when Supergirl appears on the outdoor screen for visitors and locals alike tonight.
