Double The Magic: Amsterdam International Magic Festival at Boom Chicago

Step into Amsterdam’s International Magic Festival with Double The Magic, a brisk one-hour show held at Boom Chicago in the heart of the Jordaan neighborhood of Amsterdam. Located a five-minute walk from the Anne Frank House and ten minutes from Dam Square, the performance drops you out of the canal-side streets and into compact theater seating where illusion and misdirection are staged at close range. The show pairs two headline performers—Fritz with a Z and Jeffrey van Vliet—in a tight program of sleight-of-hand, mentalism, and stage illusions that reward attention to detail. The venue’s intimate scale means props and reactions are visible from every row; you will see cards, coins, and impossible vanishings in a way that feels immediate and unfiltered. The setting itself is part of the draw: Boom Chicago occupies a city-center block framed by 17th-century canal houses and narrow cobbles, so your evening begins with the low hum of bicycles and canal reflections before the lights go down. This experience stands out because it is compact, English-language entertainment geared for adults, with late-show pricing that makes it an easy add-on to an Amsterdam sightseeing day. It’s an accessible introduction to contemporary European magic—world-class skills without the formal distance of a large theater. The mix of classic conjuring and modern presentation makes each illusion land with both nostalgia and surprise. For visitors who like active evenings, the close proximity to major sites means you can plan a canal walk, museum visit, or dinner nearby before sliding into your seat. Practical notes: the show is 1 hour, ages 18+, and tickets start at €10. Expect assigned seating in a cozy room, limited luggage space, and a venue optimized for laughter and astonishment rather than long runs or grand staging. Because the performance uses intimate tricks, front-to-back sightlines matter—arrive early if you want a preferred row. The surrounding Jordaan area offers narrow alleys and canal viewpoints for post-show photos, and the nearby Anne Frank House provides a sobering historical contrast within a short walk. Why book it? Double The Magic delivers a concentrated, high-skill magic set in a very walkable part of Amsterdam—perfect for travelers who want an evening of sharp entertainment without the long runtime or formal trappings of larger shows. Boom Chicago’s location ties the performance to the city’s lived streets, making this more than a trick; it’s an urban night out shaped by Amsterdam’s canals, crowds, and late-evening rhythm. Book online to secure late-show seats, watch the venue map for stairs and narrow aisles, and combine the visit with a canal-side dinner or a stroll past Dam Square after the show. Refund and cancellation policies vary—check your ticket details before travel. Enjoy Amsterdam evenings with curiosity always.
