The harbor smells of diesel and sweet sea-spray as your driver waits on the curb with a nameboard, the hulls of ferries and cruise liners hulking behind him. Kingstown moves at a measured Caribbean tempo: market sellers call out over piles of produce, and the low hills up-island hold the dark silhouette of La Soufrière, an ever-present geological neighbor that shaped this port town.
