You leave the car noise and the flat sweep of Ipanema behind, climb into a moto-taxi that winds up steep alleys, and the city opens into green. The trailhead on Vidigal gives way to shady Atlantic Forest steps; the path breathes, then pushes you up toward the twin summits of Dois Irmãos. At 533 m (1,750 ft) the higher peak holds a broad viewpoint where beaches, high-rises, and the Tijuca canopy arrange themselves like a living map.

The guided circuit is about 4 km (2.5 miles) round-trip with roughly 250 m (820 ft) of elevation gain; plan on about four hours including transfers and stops.
It’s rated moderate—beginners with reasonable fitness who are comfortable on uneven steps can do it, but those with serious mobility or heart issues should avoid it.
The meeting point is at the Vidigal access near the moto-taxi/van pickup; the tour returns to the same meeting spot after the descent through the favela.
Guides are local and experienced; the descent follows well-traveled lanes in Vidigal with cultural interactions—follow your guide’s instructions and avoid wandering off the route.
