The sun is low and the dunes throw long, sharp shadows as a convoy of 4x4s threads a ragged spine of sand toward the inland sea. Wind scours the crest of each dune; the vehicles climb and drop with a practiced rhythm that turns the desert into a playground. A quick camel ride and a stop to watch the shoreline where the sea presses against sand—the landscape alternates between raw, rolling desert and a surprising coastal margin.
moderate.
7–8 hours.
Moderate fitness recommended—able to climb dunes and tolerate periods of vehicle motion.
Typical transfer time is about 1–1.5 hours each way depending on departure point and traffic; the full tour runs roughly 7–8 hours.
Sandboarding is included as a casual activity; no prior experience is required—guides will assist with basics on gentle slopes.
Children under 3 are not accepted; kids aren’t permitted to ride camels alone and must be supervised per operator rules.
The tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers, people with spinal or serious heart conditions, or those unable to tolerate vigorous vehicle motion.
The inland sea area has long been part of coastal fishing and nomadic grazing patterns; its tidal channels influenced local settlement and seasonal camps.
Visitors should stick to designated vehicle tracks to avoid destabilizing dune vegetation and avoid leaving litter—coastal ecosystems here are sensitive to disturbance.
