Situated in the vibrant waters off Charlotte Amalie West, St Thomas, Dogsled Sportfishing offers a gateway to the rich marine playground of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Here, the calm Caribbean meets the thrill of offshore angling, carving out an experience that’s part adrenaline, part island culture. The business operates from Crown Bay Marina, a prime launching point into some of the most productive fishing grounds in the region.
Dogsled Sportfishing’s trips stand apart by blending expert local knowledge with a personable style. Captains Arthur, Derek, Kelsey, and the crew bring decades of combined experience navigating these waters, targeting species like Wahoo, Bonita, Blackfin Tuna, and Grouper that thrive around the underwater topography of reefs, drop-offs, and submerged ledges. This charter isn’t just about the catch — though that’s undeniably impressive — it’s about crafting a full day on the water that suits mixed groups. Whether your crew wants to fish hard or lounge on spacious beanbags soaking sun and sea, Dogsled accommodates both with equal care.
Most guests mention the personal touch that sets Dogsled apart. From tailored itineraries that might include visits to snorkeling spots on St. John or Water Island to custom celebrations like birthday parties with on-board cakes, the team molds experiences to memories. Safety and comfort are priorities, especially for families and first-time anglers. Lunch stops at local favorites like Abbi’s showcase local flavor and culture, grounding the adventure in St Thomas’s community.
The waters themselves are vibrant ecosystems shaped by volcanic peaks and coral reefs, hosting colorful tropical fish, sea turtles, and occasional dolphins. The timing for a trip can influence what you catch and see, but Dogsled’s captains adjust plans dynamically to the day’s conditions.
Whether it’s your first time fishing or a repeat visit aiming for the trophy Wahoo, Dogsled Sportfishing offers a versatile, immersive way to connect with the ocean’s pulse on St Thomas.
