Experience the serene beauty of the Gala River Front Campground, nestled on a working dairy farm in Eagle Rock, VA. Enjoy both drive-in and paddle-in access to your campsite, complete with picnic tables and fire rings. Embrace nature in this tranquil, unmanned setting, perfect for a memorable outdoor getaway.
Rate is $14 per person per night plus tax, minimum $36 camping fee. Children under age 5 are not counted for billing purposes
The Gala River Front Campground is located at 80 Thompson Drive, Eagle Rock VA 24085. It is located about 30 minutes or about 21 river miles upstream from our shop in Buchanan, VA.
The site allows both drive in and paddle in access. The campground is located on 8 acre parcel in the back of a working dairy farm. This campground is unmanned. Advanced reservations must me made in advance.
Each campsite contains a picnic table, fire ring, level gravel tent area. The campground also has a group river access area, port a potties, and dumpster for trash. No water, or utilities are allowed. Customers are required to bring in their own water.
Access by road to the campground requires going underneath a rail road bridge that restricts access to vehicles longer than 25 feet, so large RVs just can not fit. !Description of image
There is no potable water available on site, so be sure to bring enough for drinking and cooking.
If arriving by kayak or canoe, check weather and river conditions ahead of time for a safe trip.
The campground is unmanned and pristine; please carry out everything you bring in to preserve the environment.
Signal can be weak or absent, so plan accordingly for navigation and emergency communication.
The Gala River area has been part of working farmland for over a century, blending agricultural life with natural ecosystems.
Visitors are encouraged to practice Leave No Trace principles to protect the river’s health and farm environment.
