The boat slips out of Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor and the skyline of Waikiki shrinks into a low line of hotels while trade winds comb the ocean surface. Salt and sunscreen mix in the air; beneath, reefs hold color and movement. Participants gather on deck for a concise PADI-led orientation, then slip over the rail to a shallow, guided dive where coral bommies, schooling reef fish, and the occasional honu (green sea turtle) patrol the reef.
