About This Adventure

Experience the unique charm of the Oakland Waterfront on a guided kayaking adventure. Paddle through the historic estuary, surrounded by picturesque houseboats and vibrant wildlife. With no prior experience needed, this 2.5-hour journey offers a perfect blend of urban scenery and natural beauty, led by skilled instructors ensuring your safety and enjoyment.

OAKLAND WATERFRONT KAYAKING

What to see Oakland, San Francisco, Alameda from the water? California Canoe & Kayak introducing a Guided Oakland Waterfront Kayaking experience, in a stable sit-on-top single or tandem kayak. You'll enjoy exploring this historic waterfront with its quaint houseboats and old maritime ambiance. The Oakland Estuary is full of history to explore. This 2.5 hours, ~90 minutes on water time is for you. Our experienced instructors will keep you safe, get you on and off the water efficiently and show you a good time.

Location: Meet at CCK Oakland, 409 Water St, Oakland, Jack, London Square

Prerequisite:

  • No previous experience is required for sit-on-top kayak; Beginning Sea Kayaking or equivalent for a single kayak decked kayak. Able to paddle constantly up to 3+ miles during the course of the trip.
  • The minimum age for the Waterfront Tour is 5 years. Minor <12 must be in a double kayak with an adult. Minor must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Small well-behaved dogs are also welcome. We have a limited supply of dog life jackets.

All the important information

  • No refund or reschedule for late arrivals, no show, and unused time.
  • Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or their legal guardian. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • The minimum age in a double kayak with an adult is 12 years old.
  • NO ALCOHOL consumption allowed while using CCK equipment.
  • Prepare/Expect to get wet, bring a change of clothes & towel.

What Bring & Wear While Paddling:

  • Drinking-Water/Snack.
  • Synthetic top and bottom layers (Thermal underwear, heavier weight for cooler weather).
  • Nylon shorts and/or swimsuit for warmer days
  • NO COTTON
  • Optional - rain jacket, windbreaker or paddling jacket, rain pants.
  • Hat, Sunglasses, & retention device.
  • Sunscreen, even on a cloudy day.
  • Water shoes or shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Flip-flops are not recommended. Walking around barefoot should be avoided at all times.
  • Bring a change of clothes, expect to get wet!

Since you'll be on the water, dress in lightweight, moisture-wicking clothes to stay comfortable.

Apply sunscreen before paddling

Protect your skin from sun exposure, as you'll be out on open water for most of the trip.

Bring a water bottle

Stay hydrated during your adventure by bringing along a refillable water bottle.

Arrive early to get fitted

Arriving 15 minutes early ensures proper gear fitting and a relaxed start to your tour.
