This is a stunning way to check out all major iconic sights of Melbourne from a unique water-level perspective. After a quick briefing and paddling lesson, participants will get kitted up and head downriver under the Princes Bridge and into the heart of Melbourne. The tour will continue along the Yarra River past Flinders Station and up to the iconic Polly Woodside Tallship at South Wharf before entering the Docklands precinct and the beautiful Yarra’s Edge Marina. After a short break the paddlers then head back upstream past Crown Casino and the lively South Bank district before finishing back at Boathouse Drive.
This tour is an appropriate length for younger paddlers who can team up with Mum or Dad or one of our guides. With a fleet of extremely stable Sea Bear sea kayaks, the experience will be even easier for first-time paddlers. Our tour ends at the boat landing area at the Rowing Sheds, right in the heart of Melbourne, and directly across the river from Federation Square. What an incredible way to experience Melbourne!
Single/uneven bookings will be either paired with another guest or one of our tour guides will paddle with you.
Please meet on the grass riverbank at Boathouse Drive directly across the Yarra River from Federation Square. Look for our Kayak Melbourne van and flag and our kayaks will be setup on the waters edge.
Plan to arrive 10 minutes before the tour starts to receive your kayak and safety equipment and attend the briefing.
Melbourne’s sun can be strong even on cooler days; bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for protection on the water.
Parking near Boathouse Drive is limited, so taking public transit or rideshare services is recommended.
