You step off the ferry and the harbor air pulls you toward the Island Tour Plaza. In less than a minute a passenger vehicle eases away from the waterfront and the town of Avalon unfolds: painted storefronts, the sweep of Crescent Avenue, and the iconic round face of the Catalina Casino watching from its perch. The tour runs nonstop for roughly fifty minutes along seven-and-a-half scenic miles that thread the beachfront, climb into residential hills, and circle the compact historic core.
