The hydrojet thumps into the channel and the harbor falls away — gulls peel off the seawall, and the boat punches toward East Pass with spray on your face and the skyline of Destin shrinking behind. In an hour you’ll skim past the shallow sandbars of Crab Island, thread the busy cut between the Gulf and Choctawhatchee Bay, and push into open water where dolphins often rise like questions to the surface.
easy.
1 hour.
Suitable for most fitness levels; requires boarding from dock and brief standing while on deck.
The excursion runs approximately 60 minutes and follows a loop that includes Destin Harbor, Crab Island and the East Pass into the Gulf.
Children under 5 are not permitted; 5-year-olds must meet the operator’s height requirement (check at booking) and be accompanied by an adult.
Tours can be cancelled for rough seas or unsafe conditions; the operator offers full refunds if cancelled at least 24 hours before departure or due to bad weather.
Sightings are common but not guaranteed; captains slow and hover when marine life is spotted to maximize viewing and photography opportunities.
Destin developed from a 19th-century fishing village into a recreational destination; its harbor and East Pass have long supported commercial and sport fishing.
Respect marine wildlife by keeping distance during viewing and avoiding littering; local operators follow guidelines to minimize disturbance to dolphins and turtles.
