The Furnace: A Glassworks is a Lakewood, Colorado glass studio offering hands-on glassmaking workshops for hobbyists, families, and groups. The studio specializes in both hot-glass techniques—such as blown glass sessions—and cold techniques including kiln-fusing and torch work. Skilled instructors lead scheduled public classes and custom sessions, guiding participants through design choices, color selection, and safe manipulation of molten and sheet glass. Sessions range from short fused-glass projects to intensive weekend flamework classes, allowing beginners and intermediate students to learn core skills and complete finished pieces. Workshop offerings include ornament blowing, blown eggs, sampler classes that produce multiple pieces, fused suncatchers, trinket dishes, plant stakes, windchimes, and a flamework intensive using borosilicate torches. Booking options accommodate small groups—workshops listed up to four people—and larger group events. Finished pieces that require kiln cooling are held for pickup when fully annealed. Safety protocols, studio equipment, and instructor supervision are provided during all hands-on sessions. Participants choose colors and motifs, learn technique demonstrations, and receive direct guidance while instructors perform furnace and torch operations as needed. The studio’s program emphasizes creative exploration, practical technique, and finished, take-home artwork. The Furnace: A Glassworks communicates clear session details, age guidance where applicable (for example, select classes accept ages 10 and up), and post-session handling instructions for kiln-cooled pieces. Located in Lakewood, the studio serves local residents and visitors seeking unique, experiential art activities and group events. Class schedules, pricing details, and booking instructions are posted on the studio's website and reservation system for each workshop online.
