FAQs

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? Booking in advance is recommended and tickets are available for purchase online.

What happens if it rains? We will still go out in light rain and other moderate weather conditions. If the weather is severe and we have to cancel, you can reschedule to another trip or receive a credit for a future event. If you can not reschedule, you can be refunded. If it's a rainy day, please dress appropriately.

Can I still go on the boat if I don't want to fish? Yes, you can, but there is no reduced price ticket for those that just want to ride along. If you don't want to fish, you'll still need to purchase a full-priced ticket. We do not keep track of who is fishing. There are fishing poles set up all around the boat for everyone to enjoy.

Are children allowed? Yes, children are allowed to join us. We recommend that children be at least 3 years of age, however, please keep in mind that this trip is 5 hours long and parents know their children best and should determine whether it is appropriate for their child. That said, we have discounted rates for kids ages 3 to 12, and it's free for kids 2 years old and under.

Is this trip suitable for pregnant women? No, unfortunately it is not recommended for pregnant women due to the motion of the boat.

What time should I arrive? We suggest guests arrive a minimum of 30-45 minutes (1Hr in the Summer)before the boat is scheduled to leave so you can check in, have time to get your equipment settled and pick your spot on the boat. The trip will leave promptly on time!

I have never been fishing before. Is that okay? Oh sure, nothing like a new experience! Our crew will help you and answer any questions you have. You will need to let them know that you have never fished before and that you would like some help. Often times, some of the "seasoned" veterans are even willing to offer advice as well.

How many fish can I keep? You can keep as many fish as are allowed by the state regulations and limits. Your captain and crew are up to date on the most recent limit details, and will be able to tell you what is legal and what is not. Regulations vary depending on the season and what we are fishing for on a particular day.

What type of fish will we catch? It all depends on what type of fish are in season. Our typical catches include black sea bass, grunts, flounder, rudderfish, small jacks and sharks, but when other fish are in season we will fish for them too.

What type of bait is used on the trip? We typically use squid, sardines, and mackerel. On other occasions we'll use what's available and working best for catching fish.

How far out do we go? How much time do we actually spend fishing? We typically fish anywhere from 6-12 miles offshore depending on where the fish are. Usually, we are fishing within 45-60 minutes of leaving the dock. We'll spend the rest of the time fishing until it's time to head back.

What happens when everyone catches their limit? Since there are multiple species of fish to catch at all times, if we catch our limit of one species, we continue fishing for others.

Can I sell the fish I catch? No, it is illegal to sell the fish you catch without proper licensing. If you decide not to keep any of the fish you catch, you can either release them or give them to a crew member.

What can I do with the fish I have caught? Our crew will gladly clean and bag any fish you catch for you to take home for a small fee of 50 cents per pound.

Do you guarantee that fish will be caught? We can guarantee fishing but unfortunately, not catching. The captain will do everything in his power to put you where the fish are, but we cannot control what does or does not bite the hook.

Do I need a fishing license? No, we have a blanket license that covers all our passengers. You will not need to get your own license in order to participate.

Can you provide me with fishing gear, bait and tackle? Yes, all fishing equipment including rod, reel, bait and tackle are included in the price of your ticket!

I have my own equipment, can I bring my own gear? Feel free to bring your own gear of you want to! We use 8 & 10 ounce sinkers and 50 lb test line. If you need help with your gear and setting up your rig, the deckhands can help you.

Can I bring a cooler? Yes, you can bring a small to medium size personal cooler for your food and drinks. There is also snacks and beverages available for purchase on board in our full-service galley. However, there is a limited amount of space on the boat. Out of respect for your fellow passengers, please keep your personal items to a minimum.

Can I bring alcoholic beverages? Alcohol is allowed. No glass containers.

What kinds of food and beverages are available in the full-service galley? Some of the things you will find in our full-service cash only galley are breakfast muffins, danishes, honey buns, donuts, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, candy, crackers, peanuts, cookies, coffee, juice, water, soda, & beer. You may find some other items available. Prices for snacks and drinks typically run from $1 to $4.

What should I wear? We recommend wearing casual clothing that you don't mind getting dirty! Be sure to dress appropriate for the day's weather and consider bringing an additional layer just in case it gets chilly out on the water. If it's raining, it's a good idea to bring a rain slicker or foul weather gear. Rain ponchos are available for sale at the check-in counter. Closed toe shoes and sneakers with somewhat of a non skid grip are recommended.

Is there a bathroom on board? Yes, there are two restrooms on board the boat for your convenience.

Will there be room on the boat to stow my belongings? There is a limited amount of space on the boat for your personal belongings. Out of respect for your fellow passengers, please keep your personal items to a minimum.

Is the boat wheelchair accessible? Unfortunately the boat is not wheelchair accessible. However, while there is no ramp to board the boat, our crew is happy to help any customers with disabilities. Please note, however, that the restroom is not wheelchair accessible. If anyone in your group has limited mobility, please feel free to contact us prior to purchasing your tickets by clicking on the "Contact VoyagerFish" link to discuss their specific needs or you can call our office.

Are there life jackets on the boat? Yes, we have life jackets on board, but they are for emergency purposes only (you are not required to wear them during the trip).

Will I get seasick? We sure hope not! Unfortunately, this is not something we can predict. If you are particularly prone to motion sickness, please consider taking some preventative measures beforehand so that your trip is enjoyable! There is Dramamine and Sea Bands available for purchase at the check-in counter.

Is parking available? Yes, there is plenty of free parking available. During our busier summer season, there is also a parking attendant to direct you where to park.

Is smoking allowed on the boat? Yes, smoking is allowed on deck in the designated smoking area in the back of the boat. There is no smoking allowed at the railing or in the cabin.

The crew was awesome! Can I leave a gratuity? Of course! Our crew works very hard to ensure that your trip is enjoyable, and gratuities are greatly appreciated.
