Morning light cracks across craggy limestone ridges as the road climbs away from Tirana toward the sharp silhouette of the Albanian Alps. By midmorning the car drops you into a high valley where Theth’s gray stone houses sit under a low church tower; the river calls you downstream, daring you to follow.

Moderate fitness required: able to walk 3–6 miles (including uphill sections) and handle uneven terrain for several hours.
The hike portion is about 2.5 km each way and typically takes around 45 minutes one way on a maintained but uneven trail.
Children can join but organizers note infants and small children should be able to ride in strollers for road sections and parents should assess hiking ability; some sections are uneven.
No technical experience required—basic hiking fitness and surefootedness are enough for this escorted trail.
