A Spa Town Like No Other

More than 600 years ago Charles IV accidentally stumbled upon what turned out to be the biggest and richest hot spring in the Czech Republic. Also known as Carlsbad, Karlovy Vary grew in that very spot soon afterwards and it has been attracting visitors from all over the world ever since. Famous historical figures, such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe or Ludwig van Beethoven, have found their way to this picturesque spa city and took part in its popular thermal practices.

Today, Karlovy Vary is not only the most important spa city in the country, but also the home of various cultural events and festivals, such as the International Film Festival known as KVIFF. Each year in July, hundreds of actors, directors, producers and film fans gather around the Hotel Thermal to join in this popular celebration of the film industry.

Something for Everyone

As we stroll together along the River Ohře and admire the stately architecture of the historic downtown, you’ll have the opportunity to try the healing water from various of the curative hot springs that made Karlovy Vary so famous. Vřídlo, the biggest of them all, spouts to a height of 12 metres, which makes it an unusual spectacle too.

Besides its thermal waters, Karlovy Vary has many other things to offer. You’ll get to try the popular herbal liquor called Becherovka, made according to a secret recipe in the local distillery. As a part of the tour, we’ll also take you to the Moser Glassworks a true gem in the art of glassmaking. If you feel like some shopping, Karlovy Vary might be the best place to get your souvenir-hunt done. And if you’d like to take part in one of the curative treatments at the local spa, just let us know in advance and we’ll arrange that for you!

Beer-fans will get their money’s worth on this tour as well. On the way back from Karlovy Vary, we’ll make a short stop at Pivovar Krušovice, a prestigious brewery from the 16th century. Is there any better way to end this adventure-packed Czech experience?
