Equipment Use Restrictions

ONLY ONE PERSON IN OUR SINGLE PACKRAFTS AT A TIME

All of our single packrafts are rated for individuals that weigh 250lbs or less. If you exceed this limitation, we are unable to rent the equipment for your use. You must rent our tandem packrafts. If you exceed the weight limit, please let us know and we would be happy to rent our tandem packraft to you for the single packraft price.

All of our tandem packrafts are rated for a combined max weight of 750lbs and 1,000lbs. If the combined weight is more than these limits, we are unable to rent the equipment for your use. Please contact us to discuss rental options.

Our rental equipment is NOT PERMITTED on Bear Lake, Mary’s Lake, Cub Lake, in areas with closures, on rivers, and in areas that we self-impose restrictions for sensitive species and vegetation. Please ask us about your desired destination.

To prevent the spread of invasive species and wildlife diseases, your packraft day rental equipment is restricted to ONE LAKE per day. To visit more than one lake in a day, you will need to rent more than one packraft, one for each lake.

Pets are NOT PERMITTED on our packrafts at any time. No jumping in our packrafts. No dragging packrafts across the ground while portaging.

Equipment Pickup and Return

Pickup & Return Times

Rental equipment must be picked up a half hour prior to your reservation for a safety briefing, review of gear and equipment demonstration (i.e. 8am rental has a 7:30am pickup time). If you are renting for use at Lily Lake, you can plan on meeting to pick up the gear only 10 minutes prior to your reservation (i.e. 8am rental has a 7:50am pickup time). Rental equipment must be returned at the end of your rental period and no later than 10:00pm. Upon request, we may approve custom times or evening before pick-up times for specific trips and alpine starts.

Pickup & Return Location

For Lily Lake rentals, we will meet you at the Lily Lake Trailhead to provide a safety briefing. For all other lakes, we will meet you at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center parking lot. Please call upon arrival.

While Paddling

What to Wear

Depending on your rental season, both alpine lakes and front-country lakes may have freezing temperatures. To stay safe and prevent emergency situations such as hypothermia, please wear appropriate clothing at all times while on the water. We'd be happy to discuss how to best prepare for your desired destination.

Environmental Protection

At equipment pickup, we will provide our requirements for how to responsibly enter and exit your desired destination so that shoreline vegetation remains pristine.

Responsible Inflation and Deflation

You are required to follow our guidelines on how to properly inflate and deflate our packrafts. This includes using proper tempering techniques both when entering and when exiting lakes. This will help prevent any accidental damage from too much pressure. Remember, you are liable for all damage.
