Sticking your toes to the edge of a limestone runout, you hear the river dare you forward — the first of Damajagua’s famed cascades gurgles below. The day opens with a jungle hike to the 27 Puddles, where guides kit you out in helmets and life jackets and lead you through a sequence of natural water slides, jumps and pools carved into volcanic rock.
