Dawn in the Central Highlands arrives cool and clear, the air tasting faintly of pine and wet earth. On this two-day circuit you push down from Da Lat’s rim roads into Ta Nung Valley, where understory shadows and bamboo clumps harbor crocias and laughingthrushes, then glide across Tuyen Lam Lake by boat beneath a fringe of pine forest. On day two you take a jeep to the Langbiang trailhead and climb into mixed evergreen on the flanks of a 2,169 m peak, searching for endemic Vietnamese Greenfinch, Vietnamese Cutia and Red Crossbill among moss-draped branches.
