You wake before dawn, coffee in hand, as the minivan eases up mountain switchbacks and the air sharpens into the cool, pine-scented clarity of Đà Lạt. By midmorning the water of Tà Đùng lies still below—islands of forested hilltops punctuate the lake like boats at anchor; the place is often called the “Ha Long Bay of the Central Highlands.” Later the wind takes you down to Mui Ne, where sunlight pours over white dunes and the sea dares you to race it.
