Dawn light slides across red-tiled roofs as your minivan lifts away from central Cusco and the Andes open like a page of living history. A short drive delivers you to Tambomachay’s terraces and aqueducts, where cold spring water still threads ancient stone. From here a 7 km / 4.5 mi mostly downhill route drops through farmland and grazing llamas toward Qenqo’s carved chambers, then finally the colossal walls of Sacsayhuaman rising above the city.
