In the oldest and also the smallest town in Dolenjska, the Cistercian monastery was established back in the early 13th century. The mighty building with arcade corridors has housed the renowned Božidar Jakac Art Museum for almost half a century, and the monastic gardens boast wooden sculptures which have been created within the International Sculpture Symposium called Forma Viva since 1961. The monastery complex houses the Cvičkova klet wine cellar, the place where winemakers united in the Cviček Consortium come together – to celebrate a truly special wine with a well-established traditional origin.
