Lying right on the banks of the River Neckar this pretty town exudes peace and tranquility. Plus there are four old castles to explore. You can clamber around the ruins of two 14th century castles while learning about their long and rich history. Afterwards there is a cosy tea-shop in which to enjoy some home-made cakes. And then there is a fun local museum just upstairs to learn a bit more about the area.
Then it’s a 5 minute drive over the river Neckar to the scenic hill top town of Dilsberg. Behind the Main Gate lies a quaint little place full of smalltown German charm and an interesting history. Here we will explore castle ruins dating back to 1150 with some fascinating stories to reveal. From the top of the castle walls one can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the town and the whole area.
