The Slovenian poet Srečko Kosovel was born on 18 March 1904 in Sežana, in the building of what is today the Adult Education Centre, where a memorial room was arranged in 1976. Learn about the memorial room’s unique architecture and how it was designed. Get to know the great Slovenian poet better, find out where he lived and worked, where he found inspiration for his creativity and what his plans were, or explore Kosovel’s literary legacy and the peculiarities of his era. During the guided literary tour from Sežana Railway Station to the Srečko Kosovel Memorial Room, you will read poems together with the guide Mateja Kralj and, encouraged by visual stimuli in the town where the poet was born, look for the traces he left in the creations of others.

1. Guided tour of the memorial room A visit to Kosovel's memorial room takes the visitor through the life of Srečko Kosovel and his literary work. In an interesting ambience that further conjures up a special atmosphere, visitors watch a presentation film about the poet's life and work. Through the film and the reading of Kosovel's poetry, we can feel that spirit in the room, which brings us closer to this young man, who significantly characterizes Slovenian poetry, constructivism in poetry and is still a source of inspiration for many contemporary creators. In step with Kosovel Guided literary walk from the Sežana railway station to the Kosovel memorial room, through the visual stimuli of Srečko Kosovel's birthplace, we will learn about the poet's life, his rich literary legacy, read poetry and look for the traces he left in the creation of others.
