Youngsters will love the Animal Nursery on Australia Day at Highfields Pioneer Village- it is full of lots of baby animals! The program at Highfields kicks off at 9.30 am with the Milking of the Cow! Then blacksmithing, a working draught horse, sheep shearing, Tent pegging by the 11th Light Horse, Aboriginal Dance Workshop and tours of The Big Cow throughout the day.

There will also be a sausage sizzle at Lunch time. You're invited to join in the fun and enter the damper making competition at 12 noon with judging at 1.30 pm. Bring the whole family and compete against mum and dad in the gumboot throwing competition or sheaf tossing competition at 1:45pm.

The Australia Day Flag-Raising will take place at 2 pm, Guest speaker Wayne Mann will tell his story and Don Nikkelson will play the didgeridoo. Plenty of Billy Tea and Damper, food and BBQ items available onsite.

A step back in time and an enhancement of life and history of so many iconic Toowoomba stories i.e. Southern Cross Foundry, Unity Dairy, Fire Station, old bank building - and so much more..as well as the Billy Tea and Damper experience. A fabulous attraction for families with animal nursery, old machinery and over 70 buildings of historic interest to explore.
