High tea includes a selection of homemade sandwiches, scones and sweet fancies, and a pot of tea, all served on fine bone china.

Your ticket gives you entry to our gardens - rated a Garden of International Significance - plus the Ballroom Cafe, gift shop, grounds, historic Stables and outbuildings. Informative brochures provided for self-guided tour of gardens and grounds; multiple languages available.

You are welcome to arrive earlier in the day to explore, before making your way to the Ballroom for your High Tea at your booked sitting time. Gardens open from 9am daily. Sittings for High tea are available every 30 minutes from 1.30pm - 3.30pm.

Brought back from ruin, today the Castle is surrounded by 7 acres of maintained Gardens; rated by the New Zealand Gardens Trust as a Garden of International Significance. The gardens are Margaret Barker's personal creation - not only is she a restorer of historic buildings, but also a passionate gardener.

Note: High Tea bookings must be made at least 24 hours before arrival. Voucher is valid for day of booking only. Not redeemable for cash.
