Immerse yourself in the art of Japanese cuisine with a hands-on cooking class that teaches you to create mouthwatering ramen, sushi, and miso-glazed aubergine. Experience the joy of Japanese cuisine in this epic, umami-packed class. Cook up ridiculously good ramen, showstopping sushi, and a moreish miso-glazed aubergine, inspired by some of Japan’s most popular dishes.

What you’ll do:

  • Discover how to make a steamy broth: the perfect base for a bowl of ramen.
  • Get your garnish on: contrast flavours, ingredients and textures to add the final flourishes to your bowl of ramen.
  • Whip up your very own sushi rice, flavoured with sushi vinegar.
  • Roll up maki and uramaki rolls, filled with your choice of crispy salmon, creamy avo, wasabi mayo or crunchy veg.
  • Mix up an umami-packed dipping sauce.
  • Bake miso-glazed aubergine until beautifully golden, tender and rich.
  • Whip up asazuke – pickled mooli, carrot, cucumber and pepper.
  • Take a seat at our chef’s table to tuck into your Japanese feast with a delicious glass of sake.

What you’ll eat & drink:

  • Steamy ramen topped with jammy eggs, crispy pancetta, shiitake mushrooms & nori
  • Maki roll filled with salmon, avocado, wasabi mayo or crunchy veg
  • Uramaki roll with your choice of fillings
  • Lip-smacking soy dipping sauce
  • Pink radish pickle
  • Golden miso aubergine topped with sesame seeds
  • Asazuke (zingy pickled veg)
  • Traditional Japanese sake

What to expect:

  • Easy-to-follow demos, led by our expert teaching chef
  • Tuck into your Japanese feast around our chef's table (or pack a box to take home, if you prefer)
  • A digital recipe pack with everything you need to recreate the magic at home
  • All ingredients, equipment and aprons will be provided
  • You'll work at your own station to recreate the dishes demonstrated by your teaching chef

  • The duration of the class includes teaching demos and hands-on cooking, as well as time to tuck into delicious dishes at our chef’s table.
  • Only those who are actively taking part in a class are permitted at the Cookery School. Sadly, we are unable to accommodate spectators or provide a waiting area for friends and family.
