Raise your cooking game with a masterclass in creating a beautiful vegan thali – a selection of small dishes and rice, traditionally served on a tray. Discover tips and tricks for making the creamiest lentil daal with rice, then roll up your sleeves to cook up three delicious dishes and your very own soft chapatis.

What you’ll do:

  • Get to grips with the most commonly used spices and aromatics, and learn how to cook with them in different dishes.
  • Unlock the secrets to whipping up a ludicrously delicious daal.
  • Rustle up your own rich and satisfying chickpea masala.
  • Brush up on your stir-frying skills by transforming vegetables into a beautiful sambharo – a warm, spiced salad.
  • Perfect your mixing, kneading, rolling and cooking skills with soft chapatis – one of the tastiest flatbreads out there!
  • Complete your cooking journey by making beautifully spiced crispy fried okra.
  • Plate up your epic thali and take a seat at our chef’s table to tuck in.

What you’ll eat & drink:

  • Rich & fiery chickpea masala
  • Fresh & crunchy veg sambharo
  • Homemade chapatis – warm, chewy, and perfect with your curries
  • Crispy fried okra
  • Soothing lentil daal
  • Fluffy rice
  • A complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival (or a soft drink, if you prefer)
  • Water is provided throughout and you’re welcome to purchase wine, beer, spirits & mixers, cocktails and softs from our drinks menu.

What to expect:

  • Easy-to-follow demos, led by our expert teaching chef
  • Tuck into your North Indian thali around our chef's table (or pack a box to take home, if you prefer)
  • A digital recipe pack with everything you need to recreate the magic at home
  • All ingredients, equipment and aprons will be provided -You’ll work in pairs to recreate the dishes at your cooking stations

Additional info

  • You don’t have to be part of a pair to book. If you’re flying solo, you may be paired up with another person.
  • The duration of the class includes teaching demos and hands-on cooking, as well as time to tuck into delicious dishes at our chef’s table.
  • Only those who are actively taking part in a class are permitted at the Cookery School. Sadly, we are unable to accommodate spectators or provide a waiting area for friends and family.
