Learn the history, classification, uses, secrets and how to prepare our special selection of Mexican Salsas. Focusing on the different preparation and cooking methods and the various uses of fresh and dry chilies. Enjoy a market tour and a full lunch with street food tacos and appetizers with a choice of fillings in an intimate cooking studio.
We will start your experience with a welcome fruit-based water beverage "agua fresca" while learning about the history of Mexican cuisine.
Then we will share with you detailed explanations of recipes and ingredients to be ready to head to the kitchen for a hands-on cooking experience.
We will prepare 10 Mexican salsas using various cooking methods including: raw, roasted, cooked, and fried.
Salsas to be prepared are: Traditional Guacamole, Molcajete Red Sauce, Green Sauce, Ranchera Sauce, Mango and Chile Manzano Sauce, Habanero Sauce, Devil's Sauce, Chile Morita with Nuts Sauce, Chipotle Sauce and Drunken Sauce.
Afterwards, enjoy the salsas with street food tacos and appetizers with a choice of fillings (cochinita pibil, cecina, quesadillas, scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, zucchini, refried beans and cactus leaf)/to be tasted with your salsas paired with "agua fresca", artisanal mezcal, Mexican craft beer and Mexican wine.
*Class includes a market tour to Mercado de Medellin (walking distance). We will explain market’s history, organization and offering while touring some of their main halls and have a tasting from selected market stands.
NOTE: Vegan and vegatarian options available
An apron will be provided to be used during class. To better enjoy the class we suggest wearing comfortable clothes and shoes, please avoid scarves, long necklaces and jewelry while in the kitchen.
