You push off from the Destin launch, the pontoon’s canopy throwing a cool shadow while the Gulf breeze teases the radio. The boat glides across glassy bay water toward a broad, shallow sandbar where laughter and splashes mark a temporary community — this is Crab Island, a floating neighborhood of anchored boats, snorkelers, and sunbathers.

No—the boats do not come with a captain. If you prefer a captain you must request one in advance and may incur an additional fee.
Maximum capacity is 10 people and babies/toddlers are counted toward that total for safety and weight limits.
You can pay a $40 non-refundable fee or authorize a $200 hold on a credit card that is released if the boat returns undamaged; this covers up to $500 in damage.
Full refunds are available if you cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure; trips may also be canceled for bad weather.
Crab Island is a shallow sandbar shaped by sediment from East Pass and local currents; it evolved from working waterfront uses into a boater-focused recreational sandbar in recent decades.
Heavy boat traffic stresses shallow habitats—follow no-anchor zones where marked, pack out all trash, use reef-safe sunscreen, and avoid disturbing wildlife.
