ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising – Live-Aboard

American Sailing Association Certification Course

ASA 104 teaches the intermediate sailor the required skills to cruise safely as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat during a multi-day cruise upon inland/coastal waters in moderate/heavy winds and sea conditions. Learn about provisioning, boat systems, auxiliary engines, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation, anchoring / mooring, docking, emergency operations, weather, and more.

Each night will be spent away from our marina, including a 25 to 30 mile ocean sail to Bald Head Island, NC for an overnight stay.

3 Day/2 Night Course:

  • Pre-Requisites: ASA 103

  • INCLUDED: Instructional Materials & Testing, Meals while Onboard

  • All courses require a non-refundable $250 deposit. Once received, all instructional materials will be mailed to you.

What Is Not Included?

• Motion Sickness Remedies. While most of our guests are fine sailing on the ocean, some are concerned about potential sea sickness or queesy-ness. We have seen Dramamine, Bonine and other medications, pressure point wrist bands, patches behind the ear, and more being used. These can typically be purchased at a pharmacy store.
