Windmills (Zaanse Schans) 20 minutes drive from Amsterdam, you will find the Zaan region, Western Europe's oldest industrial area. In the past there used to be running more than 500 windmills here. Now a days, ten pairs of sails continue to turn in the historical village of Zaanse Schans. It's picturesque mills are still used for sawing wood and grinding flower, spices and oil. Exiting demonstrations accros the entire site will acquaint you with all kind of traditional Dutch crafts.

Besides the Windmills, The country side offers polders, water, wind, cheese, clogs, cows, sheeps and many other things that are typically Dutch. This day trip to the Dutch countryside and visits to the fishing villages Volendam and Marken is a must during your holidays in the Netherlands.

Go inside an antique working windmill, discover the region’s history at a fascinating museum, do a tasting at a cheese farm, visit an authentic Dutch bakery and much more and enjoy free time at the lovely fishing harbor on the Markermeer lake.

Private Tours are provided in a nice and comfortable Mercedes Benz minivan up to 7 people or a Mercedes Benz Minibus up to 19 people.

Our vehicles are equipped with any comfort as air conditioning, tinted windows, USB phone connections and free bottles of water for the passengers.

What to expect?

Your driver picks you up from your hotel or any other location and takes you to the Zaanse Schans Windmills. After a 1 hour visit you will continue to a cheese farm. At the farm you can taste Dutch cheese and learn how the Dutch make cheese and clogs (wooden shoes).

Then you will head to the Fishing villages Volendam & Marken and drive back again. The driver can provide you with basic information but is not a tour guide.
