The day begins with the soft rattle of a van rolling out of Galway, the Atlantic air following as you head west toward peat bogs, low hills and glassy lakes. By the time you step onto a RadRhino electric fat tyre bike, the road narrows into lanes framed by stone walls and grazing sheep; the bikes’ wide tyres take the rough ground in stride while the motor eases the climbs, leaving you to notice the light on the water and the distant ridge-lines.
easy.
8–9 hours (full day, includes transfer and breaks).
Suitable for a wide range of fitness levels; basic cycling stamina and balance recommended for sustained seated pedaling and short off-bike sections.

Pickup is offered from accommodation within a 3 km radius of Galway city; guests outside that zone meet at Merchants Road where the Fat Bike Galway vehicle and trailer wait.
The electric fat bikes assist climbs and the route is designed to be accessible; riders should still be competent on roads and comfortable with basic bike handling.
Maximum rider weight is 120 kg and all guests must sign a health declaration and waiver before starting the tour; it’s not recommended for those with significant cardiovascular issues or pregnancy.
Connemara’s rural landscape reflects centuries of small-scale grazing and turf-cutting; sheep farming and working dogs are long-standing elements of local life.
Peatlands here are sensitive—stick to established lanes, avoid trampling bog vegetation and pack out any litter to protect habitats and water quality.
Fat Bike Galway operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
