Comedyville at Deli Planet: Montreal Stand-Up Night in Central Station

Comedyville at Deli Planet sits inside Montréal’s Central Station at 895 Rue de la Gauchetière O, turning a major transportation hub into a compact, high-energy comedy room. This downtown stand-up show features five professional comedians and rotating surprise guests; doors open at 7:00pm for dinner and drinks, and the show starts at 9:00pm. The setup is intimate: a low stage, close tables, and focused stage lighting make for direct exchanges between performers and audience, and a well-timed punchline lands with amplified effect against the room’s hard surfaces. The experience is equal parts architecture and atmosphere. Housed within the durable stone and steel of Central Station—whose current building opened in 1943—the venue preserves an urban, slightly gritty character that suits stand-up’s bluntness. Deli Planet’s food-and-drink scene feeds the crowd before the lights go down; local comics often riff on city life, public transit, and Québécois culture, giving visitors a taste of Montreal’s sharp, bilingual sensibility even when the performance language is English. Practical features make this an easy pick for travelers. The club’s address sits in the heart of downtown Montréal, steps from metro lines and the city’s underground pedestrian network, so late-evening transit and connections to hotels are straightforward. Seating is limited and the room fills quickly; arriving at doors-open time improves your chances of a good table and gives time to order dinner. The show lasts roughly 1.5 hours and is geared toward adults—bring photo ID if you plan to drink. There’s no formal dress code; most patrons opt for smart-casual. Why it stands out: the mix of polished professionals and surprise guest comedians keeps each night feeling fresh. Unlike large theater shows, Comedyville delivers immediate feedback loops—you hear the collective breath before a laugh and see material tested and refined in real time. For visitors who want local flavor without a lengthy commitment, this is an efficient, lively cultural stop between sightseeing and late-night plans. Insider tips: pair the show with a stroll through the adjoining RÉSO underground passages, or grab a nightcap at a nearby bar in the Quartier des Spectacles. Keep in mind winter weather in Montréal can be severe; arriving early gives time to shed layers and avoid the rush. Respect the room’s flow—no recording, and follow staff seating directions for the best experience. Comedyville at Deli Planet is a straightforward, enjoyable way to sample Montréal’s live comedy scene—boisterous, quick-witted, and rooted in downtown energy, it’s an unmistakable urban evening for visitors who appreciate sharp humor and local color.
