About This Adventure

Experience a captivating journey through the Museum of the American Railroad with a guided tour of its historic rolling stock collection, complemented by a visit to the stunning TrainTopia model train exhibit. Led by knowledgeable historians, this unique adventure offers fascinating insights and memorable stories, perfect for ages 8 and up.

The Combo ticket includes a guided tour of the Museum of the American Railroad's rolling stock collection at the set tour time, along with a visit to the 2,500 sq ft spectacular "G" Scale model train exhibit- TrainTopia!

The Walking Tours are only available at pre-scheduled times. The outdoor site is under construction and currently only accessible with the guided tour at the current times listed below.

Tour Times: (Wednesday-Friday) @ 11am & 1pm
(Saturday) @ 11am, & 1pm NO OUTDOOR TOURS AVAILABLE ON SUNDAYS.

TrainTopia Hours (Wednesday-Saturday) 10am-5pm. Sunday 1-5pm.

Combo Ticket Cost: Adult $18, Children (3-12) $10

Things to Know and Consider before Purchasing Combo Tickets:________________________________________


Duration & Distance: The tour is up to a mile round-trip and lasts approximately 1 hour.

Tour Content: Content includes history of the Museum, construction plans, and highlights of select pieces of the historic rolling stock collection, including a brief walk-through of select pieces of equipment. Climbing on the exterior of equipment is not permitted.

Terrain: Uneven surfaces and slight elevation changes are involved. There is no cover from the sun.

Age: The tour is best for ages 8 and up! The tour is led by our in-house historians, so be ready to listen for great history and anecdotes throughout the 1-hour program.

Dress: Flat close-toed, thick soled shoes are best suited for the tour (it’s like an outdoor hike). Traversing terrain and concrete platforms are involved. Be sure to dress for sun protection in summer and warmer months, coats & hats for winter. Surface temperatures in summer can exceed 100 degrees. We recommend you bring a bottle of water, sunscreen/hat, sunglasses, etc. for summer tours & warmer months. Thanks!


On Your Visit

• Please arrive early. Parking can be difficult to find during busy times such as weekends, holidays, and the summer. Park at the Frisco Discovery Center @ 8004 N. Dallas Parkway, Frisco, TX 75034.

• Upon arrival, please check in at TrainTopia inside the Discovery Center. It is located down the hall from the National Videogame Museum. Please check in no later than five minutes before tour start time.

NOTE: For 9am Summer/special holiday tours, please meet near the front steps at the sign for "Walking Tours Start Here" as the building is not opened until 10am.

• In the occurrence of inclement weather, the tours may be postponed or cancelled. If the tour is cancelled, we can reschedule or provide a refund.
