5 hours • Escape Dublin to your refreshing seaside retreat
5:30hr from Hotel to Hotel, but can we as short as 4hrs (bus stop to end of tour in Howth) if requested.
Situated just 20km from Dublin, the Hill of Howth seems a world away from the hustle and bustle of the Irish capital. With its storied past, wide open spaces and abundant marine life (porpoises, seals) Howth gives the impression more of a West of Ireland hideaway than of a ruralised stretch of Dublin's commuter belt. Boasting the best seafood eateries on the East Coast, intimate cafés and traditional pubs, the Peninsula is surrounded by stunning views - soaring cliffs, dense forests at the top of the Hill, and a real olde worlde harbor area more like a throwback to a bygone era.
So join us on a hike around Dublin's best-kept secret (we start at the top of Howth Hill beside the Summit Inn - highest pub in Dublin), and view Dublin City in the distance from Howth's lofty 200m peak. We'll then ramble along the cliffs to the screech of seagulls, taking in the fresh salty air before arriving 90 minutes later into the old harbor to finish the day in one of its many bar-restaurants.
Our guide will regale you with stories of Howth's role in the 1916 Rising, the tales of Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley, local folklore, flora and fauna and the usual banter, wit and broad knowledge that you’d expect from Ireland’s highest rated private walking tour company.
Book this tour as a complement to our other, Dublin-based tours for a breath of fresh air on your 2nd or 3rd day.
Secure your spot to join us on this immersive adventure, with its captivating blend of stunning landscapes, rich marine life, and delightful culinary delights. This could be the highlight of your Ireland trip!
"We had a wonderful day with Mark learning about Ireland and seeing the breathtaking views of the Ireland coast. We learned how to make Irish coffee at a local cafe. The area is beautiful and Mark was so nice and knowledgeable." ~ Aaron M. from Powell, Ohio, USA - Jun '24
